IN-HOME POSTPARTUM CARE
rooted in cross-culturual postpartum care wisdom, the physiological design of women, & the 5 essentials of Postpartum Care - Rest, Warmth, Body Care, Nourishment, & Community Support
Postpartum Care isn’t just for the fourth trimester or the first 40 days after having a baby. Studies are now showing that it can take 2-7 years for your body to heal, recover and replenish from each pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
I believe it’s every woman’s birthright to be cared for and supported throughout her entire Motherhood journey, not just in the early postpartum time.
Unfortunately, most mothers in our modern, Western world (of current and past generations) weren’t supported or tended to in the early postpartum (and beyond), and the results of that have led to intergenerational depletion, an increase in chronic/autoimmune diseases for women and mothers, perinatal mental health disorders at an all-time high, burnout, loneliness/isolation, and more.
The current reality and depletion many mothers face is rooted in dis-connection - from the sacred role of mother, our relationship to food, a lack of community support, and connection to innate wisdom of what is required for wellness.
It can look grim at times, but it is through facing what is that we can create a new way forward. Just because it’s been this way for others, and may be your story, too, repair and writing a new story (for you and future generations to come) is always possible. I’ve seen it and experienced it first hand - within myself and the countless mothers I’ve supported 3 days to 30+ years postpartum.
My Mission:
To inspire change in the ways we nourish, care for, and support women & mothers.
Although I’m speaking through the lens of supporting the early postpartum time, the 5 Essentials of Postpartum Care are also applicable following pregnancy loss, recovery from injury or illness, in support of the menstrual cycle, and so much more.
